It's always awful to see disasters like this, but I can't help but think that this is a reminder of how much government mismanagement makes things worse. This is yet another heartbreaking example of how the climate crisis is already wreaking havoc on people’s lives—these wildfires aren’t just natural disasters, they’re fueled by years of inaction and denial. We need real investment in green infrastructure and stronger climate policies to protect communities, not just in Greece but everywhere. Solidarity with the firefighters and evacuees, but we have to push for systemic change or this will keep happening.

It’s heartbreaking to see these wildfires devastate Greece, but it’s also a reminder of why governments need to focus on real-world threats like disaster preparedness instead of wasting resources on endless bureaucracy. Hopefully, this will push leaders to invest more in infrastructure and emergency services, instead of just relying on the EU to bail them out every time there’s a crisis.
