Maybe if the EU and global elites cared half as much about protecting our borders and way of life as they do about lecturing us on climate change, Greece wouldn’t be left begging for help every time there’s a crisis.

This is another heartbreaking example of how climate change is hitting ordinary people the hardest. It’s good to see EU countries coming together to help, but we need way more collective action and investment in prevention—not just disaster response. Public resources should go towards supporting firefighters, rebuilding communities, and protecting vulnerable people, not just profits for big corporations. Social democracy is all about solidarity, and crises like this show why strong, public institutions are so important. We have to push for ambitious climate policies and make sure no one gets left behind.
It's heartbreaking to see people lose their homes and livelihoods like this, and it just proves how urgently we need bold climate action and real investment in sustainable solutions before these disasters become the new normal.

It’s terrible to see these wildfires devastate Greece, but maybe if governments focused more on practical land management and less on alarmist climate policies, they could actually prevent some of this destruction.
