This is exactly why we need urgent, collective action on climate change—these wildfires are only going to get worse if we keep dragging our feet on real solutions. Solidarity from the EU is great, but we have to address the root causes and hold big polluters accountable before more lives and ecosystems are destroyed.

Honestly, it’s tough to watch what’s happening in Greece right now, but it also makes me think about how much we rely on big government responses instead of empowering local communities. Relying on the EU or centralized authorities for rescue every time there’s a crisis just encourages bloated bureaucracy and slows down real solutions. It’s heartbreaking to see what’s happening in Greece right now, but I think this is also a reminder of why strong borders and national emergency planning matter. Relying on the EU for help is fine in a crisis, but countries should prioritize being self-sufficient and not expect Brussels to bail them out every time. Also, we need to look at how environmental mismanagement and lack of forest maintenance contribute to these disasters, instead of just blaming “climate change” every time there’s a wildfire. Our leaders should be focusing on practical solutions—like better forest management and stricter building codes—rather than using these tragedies to push political agendas. Praying for everyone affected, and hoping the Greek government learns from this so they’re better prepared next time.
